Overview

The Protectli "V" Series is characterized by the implementation of Intel® Celeron® N Series CPUs, built-in memory (RAM), on-board eMMC storage, and 2.5GbE NICs with a fanless, silent design. These units are designed to be more of a "working out of the box" experience with less customization possible in regards to RAM and additional components, but still offers powerful performance for a networking appliance. However, these units allow for the addition of an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD for extra storage as well as additional slots that support M.2 2230 E Key WiFi cards and M.2 3042/3052 LTE modems. More detailed information on each aspect of this product lineup can be found below, including an image of the internal view of the unit

CPU

The 2 Port V1210 utilizes the Intel® N5105 Quad Core CPU at 2.0 GHz (Turbo 2.9 GHz).

Memory (On-Board)

The V series is unique to our other product lineups in the sense that RAM is already pre-installed and soldered onto the motherboard of every single unit. This removes the possibility of incompatible RAM being installed, and every unit is guaranteed to boot without any other modifications needed.

All V Series units utilize Micron Technology branded LPDDR4, 2933 MT/s memory.

The V1210 contains 4GB of RAM.

Storage (On-Board eMMC)

Every V Series unit contains pre-installed storage that is soldered on the board. Samsung eMMC Version 5.1 is utilized.

The V1210 contains 32GB of built-in storage.

Storage (NVMe SSD)

If you require additional storage for your use case, you can install an additional M.2 2280 NVMe SSD. Current industry standard capacities of 250 GB, 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB are supported. An NVMe SSD can be installed by Protectli if selected on the configurator when purchasing a unit on our website. An example of an NVMe SSD installed in a V1210 can be seen below:

RJ45 Ethernet Ports (2.5 Gigabit)

The V Series of Vaults utilize individual Intel I226-V 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet NICs for each ethernet interface.

Serial COM Port

The V Series includes a USB-C Serial COM Port. Serial COM output is typically used to edit the BIOS or modify an OS without the need for a monitor to be attached.

The COM port utilizes an FTDI USB UART interface integrated circuit device (FT232RQ-QFN32).

The COM cable is included with each device, but additional COM cables can be purchased here.

V1210 With WiFi and LTE Modem Installed

WiFi

The V Series provides an M.2 2230 E Key socket for an optional WiFi module.

The Antennas can be mounted to the chassis via the pre-drilled chassis holes on the front or rear panel.

A compatible 802.11ac WiFi module that is available from Protectli can be found at this link. (This WiFi card does not work with OPNsense or pfSense®)

LTE

The V Series provides an M.2 3042/3052 B Key socket for an optional 4G or 5G LTE module.

A compatible internal LTE modem that is available from Protectli can be found at this link.
